Disciples Mission Fund
The "unified" funding process of the entire denomination for the National and World Ministries which include the Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Pentecost Offering, Week of Compassion Offering, Reconciliation Mission Offering, Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving Offerings.

Central Area
The Central Area is comprised 38 congregations in 28 counties from Wichita Falls in the North, West to Midland, South to San Angelo, and East to Lampasas. The mission of the Central Area is to link missionary congregations for new church starts, promote leadership development and better communications.

Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat
Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat was started in 1947 by three men who envisioned a Christ centered camp where both youth and adults could come for worship, personal reflection and fellowship. The mission of Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat is to be a sanctuary for spiritual growth, personal development, training and service in a natural setting and atmosphere. It is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and associated with the Central Area of the Christian Church located in Abilene, Texas. Most of the attending groups are from the Christian Church, but groups from other denominations are also welcomed.

For Kids Only Preschool
For Kids Only is a preschool program scheduled on Tuesdays and Friday’s from 9:15 a.m. until 2:45 p.m. Trained, caring adults supervise the moderately structured program with planned activities, creative playtime and lunchtime. Some of the activities include music, storytelling crafts, games and inventive play. Classes are divided by age groups.
Breakfast on Beech Street (B.O.B.S.)
Breakfast on Beech Street (B.O.B.S.) is an all-volunteer program which serves a free hot breakfast and sack lunch each weekday morning from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.to anyone in the Abilene community who is in need. Any person who is hungry is served without prejudice. Guests include day laborers, homeless, senior citizens, individuals and families or single parents with children. B.O.B.S. opened its ministry on May 15, 1996. B.O.B.S. is hosted by First Christian Church and is located in the Perry Center for Outreach. B.O.B.S. is supported with volunteers and donations through a partnership between: First Christian Church, First Central Presbyterian Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal; and First United Methodist Church and Highland Church of Christ. In addition to providing a Christian atmosphere and nourishing food for the guests, Bibles are also available, either to read during their meal or to take with them. |
